Mastering regulatory compliance through reliable data access

20 June 2025

Introduction

Firms are struggling more than ever when it comes to compiling the necessary data for regulatory reporting purposes. This survey-based report sheds light on their challenges, how they can realistically address those challenges and the key role a managed data service can play in enhancing firms’ regulatory reporting functions.

Regulatory reporting obligations continue to present a significant challenge to firms on both sides of the industry across a range of areas, most notably maintaining pace with constantly changing regulatory mandates, sourcing the relevant static data for reporting purposes and generally improving automation levels across the middle and back office. These issues were highlighted by the results of a recent survey conducted by WatersTechnology in collaboration with Smartstream Technologies, for which industry professionals were questioned on a range of regulatory reporting topics. And, while firms generally appear to be moving in the right direction, there is a lot more they could do – and should be doing – to get their houses in order.
