Rothera deploys Air for high-volume reconciliations
Finextra published Smartstream’s announcement on 6 October 2026 that Rothera, the U.S.-based CFTC-regulated event contract market, has gone live on Smartstream’s Air. Rothera deployed the Cash and Data modules to automate derivatives reconciliations across its exchange and clearinghouse business.
From manual effort to a fully audited process
Rothera selected Air as a new implementation to scale and automate its existing reconciliation processes as exchange volumes grew. Following an initial go-live for Exchange-to-Clearing Instruments and Exchange-to-Clearing Trades, Rothera now benefits from substantially reduced manual effort, faster exception identification and a complete audit trail. Additional flows are planned as the rollout continues.

A foundation for further automation
Joseph McGlawn, Chief Clearing Officer of Rothera, said the go-live gives the team a foundation to extend automation to additional workflows over time. Robin Hasson, Head of Product at Smartstream, called the go-live an important milestone, with Rothera now managing around 1.7 million daily transactions.
