Smart Liquidity – US Systemically Important Bank (SIB) – Cross-Currency Liquidity Visibility

Use Case Smart Liquidity

Overview

A major US bank operating internationally required improved visibility of cash flows across USD and EUR clearing systems to support global payment operations.

Challenge

Liquidity data was fragmented across multiple systems and jurisdictions, limiting the bank’s ability to monitor cross-currency positions and manage settlement risk efficiently. Delayed reconciliation and limited transparency made it difficult to optimise liquidity usage across global accounts.

Solution

The bank implemented Smart Liquidity’s Cash Management System (CMS) to consolidate multicurrency cash positions.

CMS integrated data from US domestic systems alongside EUR clearing infrastructures and correspondent banks, delivering real-time balances, forecasting capabilities, and cross-currency visibility through a single dashboard.

Benefits

The bank achieved a unified, near-real-time view of liquidity across its USD, EUR, and correspondent accounts. Operational efficiency improved through reduced manual reconciliation and enhanced settlement oversight. Automated sweeping capabilities also supported more effective funding decisions and optimised the use of global liquidity.
